About Etki

Etki is an independent impact network and foundation in formation built around a simple idea: people, knowledge, organizations and opportunities become more valuable when meaningful connections can form between them.
The network brings together individual development, research, project creation, publishing, mentorship, community building and digital infrastructure within a shared ecosystem.
Rather than defining itself solely as a conventional civil society organization, think tank or professional network, Etki is being developed as an evolving platform through which people can build capabilities, create projects, establish meaningful relationships and contribute to initiatives larger than themselves.

Our Story

The origins of Etki go back to 2020, when its earliest initiatives emerged from book clubs, student communities and university-based networks.

Those early experiments gradually developed into the Student Clubs and Communities Organization, bringing together people interested in collaboration, education, projects and community building. What initially existed largely within university environments eventually began to move beyond campus boundaries.

In 2025, this accumulated work took a more structured institutional direction under the leadership of Eren Acar, with a broader focus on civil society, intellectual development, projects and network building.

As the scope expanded, it became increasingly clear that the project required an identity that was not limited by its university origins.

On 6 June 2026, the name Etki was adopted.

The new identity marked more than a change of name. It represented a shift from a collection of youth and university initiatives toward a broader long-term vision: an international impact network connecting people, organizations, projects, knowledge and opportunities.

Today, Etki continues to build on that history while developing a substantially more ambitious ecosystem for the future.

Our Philosophy

We believe meaningful development begins with the ability of an individual to consciously shape their own mind, capabilities and direction.

Learning, in this sense, is not limited to formal education, certificates or predefined career paths. It is a continuous process of understanding the world, testing ideas, acquiring capabilities, building relationships and gradually expanding the area in which a person can act effectively.

Etki exists to make that process less isolated.

The network brings together people at different stages of their intellectual, professional and personal development and creates environments where experience, knowledge, opportunity and initiative can circulate between them.

We value independence of thought, but not isolation.

We value individual agency, but also recognize that many meaningful achievements become possible only through cooperation.

We value ambition, but believe that ambition becomes useful when it is transformed into disciplined action, responsibility and contribution.

For this reason, Etki is not designed merely as a community people join. It is intended to become an environment in which people can learn, create, collaborate, contribute and gradually expand their capacity to create impact.

Our aim is to build a network where participants do not simply consume opportunities created by others, but increasingly become capable of creating opportunities, projects, knowledge and connections themselves.

Future Vision

Etki exists to strengthen the intellectual, professional and social capacity of people who want to create meaningful work and contribute to the development of the environments around them. Many worthwhile ideas never move beyond intention because the person behind them lacks the right network, institutional support, knowledge, collaborators, resources or opportunity. Etki aims to reduce those barriers. We are therefore developing an ecosystem that operates across both digital and physical environments and combines individual development, project creation, networking, knowledge production and institutional collaboration.

Autonomous Development & Strategic Mentorship

We see development as an active process of capability building rather than passive exposure to information. Etki creates environments in which individuals can identify what they need to learn, strengthen their competencies and progressively take greater responsibility for their own development. Mentorship, peer learning and practical experience form an important part of this model. The objective is not to prescribe a single path, but to help participants develop the judgment, capabilities and relationships necessary to navigate increasingly complex environments independently.

Project Incubation & Innovation

Ideas gain significance when they can survive contact with reality. Etki creates an environment where early ideas can develop into projects, events, publications, organizations and other forms of real-world activity. Participants are encouraged to move beyond discussion and experience the practical realities of building something: defining objectives, finding collaborators, managing resources, responding to problems, coordinating teams and delivering results. Over time, Etki aims to provide both an institutional environment and a network of expertise capable of helping promising initiatives move from concept to implementation.

Network Nodes & Cooperation

A network becomes valuable not simply because many people belong to it, but because useful relationships can form between them. Etki connects individuals, communities, institutions and local networks across different cities, disciplines and areas of interest. These connections are intended to create an environment where information, expertise, introductions and opportunities can move more efficiently through the network. Rather than constructing every activity around a single centralized organization, our long-term approach is to develop interconnected nodes capable of initiating their own activities while remaining part of a broader ecosystem. The result should be a network in which individual capacity and collective capacity strengthen one another.

Digital Infrastructure & Physical Presence

Networks need infrastructure. Etki is therefore being developed not only as an organization, but also as a digital ecosystem capable of representing the relationships between people, organizations, projects, events, knowledge and opportunities. Over time, Etki.net is intended to provide tools for professional identity, network management, organizational relationships, project participation, knowledge sharing, career development and collaboration. A person's profile should be able to reflect not only what they claim to know, but what they have participated in, produced, contributed to and built. An organization's presence should likewise represent its people, projects, activities and relationships. The digital layer is intended to complement—not replace—physical activity. Events, meetings, workshops, projects and local communities remain essential parts of the Etki ecosystem.

Community & Cultural Impact

Strong networks are built through more than professional transactions. Shared experiences, cultural activities and informal relationships are often what transform a collection of contacts into a genuine community. For this reason, Etki also develops and supports gatherings, summits, workshops, social events, intellectual competitions and other formats that bring people together outside conventional institutional settings. These environments create space for friendships, collaborations and unexpected connections that cannot always be designed in advance. Our objective is to cultivate a network that is intellectually serious without becoming socially sterile, and ambitious without losing the human relationships that allow communities to endure.

Research & Independent Publishing

Etki considers knowledge production an essential part of creating meaningful impact. Through independent publications, articles, research initiatives, reports, discussions and media projects, we aim to examine the social, institutional and technological systems shaping contemporary life. Existing projects such as news and magazines form part of this publishing heritage, while future initiatives will extend beyond the university environment. The objective is not simply to produce more content. It is to create useful knowledge, preserve institutional memory and provide a platform for ideas that deserve serious consideration. Over time, research and publishing should become one of the principal intellectual layers of the Etki ecosystem.

Our long-term vision is to develop Etki into a global network where people can discover one another through what they know, create and contribute; where organizations can build meaningful relationships; and where worthwhile projects can find the people, knowledge and opportunities they need to move forward. Etki should ultimately function across several interconnected layers: as a professional and social network, a project ecosystem, a knowledge platform, an organizational relationship infrastructure and a space for lifelong development. The technologies, institutions and programs may change as the network evolves. The underlying principle remains the same:increase the capacity of people to create meaningful impact by making knowledge, relationships and opportunities easier to connect.
